An award-winning theatre director and producer, Bruce’s work has been staged at leading theatre festivals in London’s West End and New York City.
Over the course of his seven impactful years as Head of Theatre & Films at the NCPA, he has directed and produced several acclaimed productions, including Death and the Maiden, Constellations, St. Nicholas, Every Good Boy Deserves Favour, and Sea Wall. He has also played a pivotal role in conceptualising and developing several key initiatives, including Connections India—one of the country’s leading youth theatre festivals, presented in association with the National Theatre, London—along with Backstage Pass and The Art of the Possible, both of which support emerging talent and theatre education. Bruce is also the founder of Darpan, a new writing initiative under the Marathi Theatre Festival, Pratibimb, which is now in its fifth year. In December 2024, he led the NCPA’s first-ever collaboration with the Mahindra Excellence in Theatre Awards (META), bringing together four past META-winning productions to inaugurate the 20th META Celebrations. In April 2025, he relaunched the Vasant Gujarati Theatre Festival at the NCPA following a seven-year hiatus.
In addition, Bruce has played a crucial role in expanding the NCPA’s film screenings and off-stage presentations programming. The NCPA now regularly hosts screenings and events in collaboration with organisations such as NT (National Theatre) Live, The Indian Express Film Club, White Wall Screenings, Film Heritage Foundation, and Cinema Collective. Over the past few years, the NCPA has also emerged as one of the country’s most sought-after venues for stand-up comedy and improv, driven by programming and collaborations with leading comedy platforms, including SOHO Theatre London, The Habitat, That Comedy Club, Comedy Ladder, and Sandbox Creativity, to name a few.
Beyond theatre, his work extends to large-scale concerts and events. He has directed performances for the 70th Birthday Celebration of HRH the Prince of Wales for the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. He created events for the Welsh Guards Centenary Celebration in 2015 for the Welsh Guards Charity and for International Rugby star Sam Warburton’s testimonial year in 2018/19.
Bruce was made an Honorary Associate at the prestigious Royal Academy of Music in London in 2026. He has also served as a judge for the Mahindra Excellence in Theatre Awards (META) in 2023 and 2025, a selector for the Association of Asia Pacific Performing Arts Centres in 2024, and a jury member for the EEMAX Global Awards in 2023 and 2025. He served as the Artistic Director of the National Youth Theatre of Wales and is a member of the Advisory Board of the Guildford School of Acting. He has a BA Honours in Acting and trained as a director at the National Theatre Studio.
His work continues to foster international collaborations, champion new writing, and advance theatre as a vital and accessible art form.
