MGC is delighted to announce that Michael Grandage will direct the world premiere of The Line of Beauty, adapted by Olivier Award nominee Jack Holden from Alan Hollinghurst’s Booker Prize-winning novel at the Almeida Theatre this autumn.

London. Summer, 1983. 

Nick Guest moves into the grand Notting Hill home of his university friend Toby — and into the dazzling world of Toby’s father Gerald, a newly elected Tory MP, his elegant wife Rachel, and their troubled daughter Cat. From private gardens to country estates, glittering parties to political dinners, Nick is swept up in a world of money, power and privilege. A world that promises everything — and exacts a cost. 

As he pursues beauty in all its forms — aesthetic, erotic, aspirational — Nick finds himself caught between the freedoms of desire and the rigid boundaries of class, sexuality and public image in a rapidly changing Britain. 

The Line of Beauty is a captivating portrait of Thatcher’s Britain at its most decadent and divisive, based on the Booker Prize-winning novel by “one of the greatest writers of our time” (The Guardian) Alan Hollinghurst.

The Line of Beauty runs from Tuesday 21 October – Saturday 29 November 2025.

Congratulations to Andrew Panton who has been nominated for Best Director for the Dundee Rep/Traverse Theatre production of A History of Paper at this year's Critics Awards for Theatre in Scotland. The winners will be announced on 8th June.

We're delighted to announce that the MGC production of Red by John Logan will be available to stream this summer via National Theatre at Home. Directed by Michael Grandage, starring Alfred Molina as Mark Rothko and Alfred Enoch as his assistant, Ken, the production was filmed live during its 2018 West End run at Wyndham's Theatre.

Client Hannah Price is back at the King's Head this month directing Rosie Day's (This Is Not A) Happy Room. Critics are calling it "one of the funniest shows of the year so far" (British Theatre Guide), and praise "director Hannah Price [for keeping] the pace cracking along" (The Times).

Congratulations to client Ed Stambollouian on the opening of the London transfer of KENREX. Co-written and directed by Ed, the production has had rave reviews and can be seen at Southwark Playhouse until 15th March.

Announced today: Brian Cox will be returning to the Scottish stage this summer in James Graham's new play Make It Happen, directed by MGC client Andrew Panton. The play will start at Dundee Rep, where Andrew is Artistic Director, before continuing to the Edinburgh International Festival.
